Janelle Monae

Janelle Monae is someone that I've wanted to work with for as long as I could remember. When we finally had her scheduled to be photographed I knew that we had to create an iconic portrait. After a few quick poses that she seemed to be photographed in many times before, I lowered my camera and told Janelle that one of my favorite songs is "Call The Law" by Outkast, which she is featured in and that I've been admiring her acting career so far. That changed everything for the shoot in the best way possible. Janelle effortlessly took my gentle direction and we created this portrait.
